Education and Qualifications

A professional journalist by training and experience, Sherri holds a respected MA in Journalism and Mass Communications from the Grady College at the University of Georgia, 2004. Today, she specializes in customized content strategies for monetization across platforms, and the creation of inbound marketing public relations systems using models drawn from nature. Due to her comprehensive understanding of the making of news and the flow of resources across mediums and platforms, she is often a resource partner for other practitioners. Her conscious redefinition of public relations practice from a mindfulness perspective sets her apart as a leader in the field. Sherri is the former president of Public Relations Association of Western North Carolina, 2011, 2010, and a 2009 board member. Currently, she is online editor for an internationally syndicated, woman-centered blog platform and functions as a cross-platform content consultant for an independent women's print magazine publication. She has remained an ordained Madonna Minister since 2004, and advocates for women's rights, first amendment freedoms, and ecologically sustainable economy. As a journalist, she worked as a reporter and editorial assistant in daily news, and as content editor and managing editor at competitive community newspapers in the Athens, Ga., and Atlanta metropolitan statistical areas. Her work appears in numerous national and regional publications and magazines, including Dance Magazine and Victoria. Her writing been frequently syndicated by Associated Press and online, and continues to be used as expert source material more than a decade after publication. Additionally, Sherri has worked in marketing capacities since 1993, and in public relations since 1994. Considered an expert in writer's craft, style, and substantive editing, she holds communications skills and English as a Second Language teaching licensure in North Carolina, 2006, and Georgia, 2004. She held graduate teaching assistantships in science journalism and photojournalism at the University of Georgia, where she also studied fiction writing with Judith Ortiz Cofer in 2003.
