As a business we are quite keen to start up our UK affiliate/merchant programme and have been in contact with a few companies already to get the ball rolling.
Although I have come across a few companies so far, I was wondering if anyone had any ideas of the best companies to look out for in regards to the service as well as reasonable fees?
Are there any networks that are worth avoiding full stop?
Would welcome any thoughts.

You should probably check out our Affiliate Marketing Buyer's Guide, which profiles 27 leading companies (13 networks and 14 affiliate agencies/managers) operating in the UK affiliate space. The guide was produced about six months ago, so I'd say that it would still be an ideal starting place for you.

I used to work at a performance marketing affiliate network as an affiliate manager. So if you are dealing in performance based compensation, you need to be clear with yourself and the network about what you expect in terms of lead/sales quality before you sign anything. If you are not clear you can get stuck paying for fake or "bot" leads or your new customers may all start cancelling their orders because they were sent to you via incentive traffic. Of course you can also get really great traffic. But you have to know what your bottom line is before you start.
Hope that helps!
