Widgets driving traffic to photo websites

Hitwise UK has some interesting figures showing how effective widgets can be in driving traffic to websites from social networks.

Slide.com and RockYou, two providers of photo-sharing widgets, have moved rapidly up the rankings in the photography websites category, according to Heather Hopkins.

CNN.com to revamp news site

Plaxo relaunches 'smart address book'

Plaxo has relaunched its 'smart address book' service, which lets users share data between address and calendar programs from Microsoft, Google, AOL and others.

Plaxo 3.0, in addition to simplifying the synchronisation process, is now available in in seven languages, including French, German, Japanese, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.

Navigation tips for websites

Any decision on a website's navigation is critical to usability, findability, accessibility and SEO. It can be difficult to undo if you select a poor design. So usable navigation is best established early on in a web project.

There are many different examples of main navigation systems, (i.e. the main method for accessing content in different site sections) but the 'three Cs' of convention, consistency and context are important whatever the design.
