im just wondering what peoples thoughts are on PPC helping pages to get indexed and assisting with seo?
Does it work? is it relevant?

It's my belief that PPC listings do not help in indexing webpages. Google has many different spiders who will crawl your site - and they do visit your site through your Adwords account to check for landing page relevancy etc. - but I don't think these pages are added to their index.
Similarly, I believe Google has a separate spider for trawling through the sites to be included within Google News, but I don't think these pages are then included within the main index straight away. I am open to being proven wrong on this though...

No. Not on your nelly. Getting indexed and ranked is nothing to do with PPC.

Thanks for the help. there are so many conflicting articles ive read and its so hard to know which opinion is right. I suppose with online, there is no definitive wrong and right and I can only follow the genral consensus, which seems to be that paid search powering organic listings isnt best practice
thank you again for your time

As the others have said PPC and indexing are not linked. But you shouldn't have a problem with indexation these days? I say 'these days' because it used to be harder (tech problems with sites, the crawlers/indexation was slower etc.) or slower to get indexed.
Are you having problems with indexation?
One way we've found successful in the past if you want to speed up indexation is using online press releases on high trafficked sites where the press release has a link to your site and/or the page you want indexed. This is because Google recrawls those sites very frequently and then follows the link to your site and indexes the destination page/site.
(this works well via our press releases actually - see http://econsultancy.com/press-releases - as Google's freshbot recrawls our site - or sections of it - very frequently, often several times an hour)

...though do make sure they are do-follow links if you are looking for an indexation benefit... ;-)

thanks again for all the feedback. im not having trouble with getting pages indexed as such, more curious really about other peoples philosophies on the use of PPC to fuel indexing.
The info about the Press Releases is really useful - ill be sure to discuss this with the rest of the team at work.

ppc wont help you to index your pages it is an online advertising. if you want to index your pages you have to submit the link to pingler or pingomatic
