One of the immediate problems faced when developing wireless applications using WAP is how to test that the application you are developing will work across multiple carriers and their respective WAP gateway software.

Each carrier uses their own particular gateway software (usually phone.com or Nokia) and has configured this system to provide different functionality (session cookies, page redirects and other such issues).

Using the multiple vendor settings below, you can test and configure your application to work across the main UK vendors and we will be updating this list to include all of the main European carriers.

Mviva (the AOL WAP ISP) is rapidly expanding across europe with current offerings in France, Finland, Sweden and the UK and looks like being a leading player in the providing of WAP services. BT Cellnet, with it's recent expansion into Holland and Ireland also looks like taking a fair part of the market as does Orange with their recent partnership with France Telecom.

Is there any application that tests a WAP service across all Phone models?

Unluckly not that I've seen. The best you can get is to use the phones themselves and the emulators of the phones for this process, but as we've seen here what this means is that you still don't get an accurate test.

I would watch companies such as Segue who produce existing testing software to see what they develop in this field.
