About the speakers
Vicki Cantrell, SVP Communities and Executive Director, National Retail Federation - (Moderator)
Vicki Cantrell was named NRF’s Senior Vice President, Communities and Executive Director, Shop.org in October of 2011. In this role, she is responsible for providing strategic direction and management of Shop.org, NRF’s digital retail division. Additionally, she provides oversight for all NRF communities, including NRF’s CIO Council, the Association of Retail Technology Standards (ARTS) and Loss Prevention.
Prior to joining NRF, Cantrell served as the COO and CIO of Tory Burch during a period of extreme growth and expansion domestically and internationally. As COO, her work centered on the development of process and infrastructure for the transition from initial success to sustained growth. She was also a brand advocate and instrumental in developing ongoing employee and team strategies. During her storied retail career, Cantrell has also worked as CIO of Giorgio Armani Corporation and held positions of growing responsibility with Gucci Group, Party City and JCPenney.
Cantrell is a respected industry leader and has been an active member of NRF and the NRF CIO Council for over ten years. Among other honors, she was named as one of the most prominent women IT executives by Executive Technology Magazine.
Cantrell is a Philadelphia native but lives with her family in Randolph, NJ. She is also the proud grandmother of two adopted boys from Russia.
Michael Burgess, President, Saks Direct
Michael Burgess is President of Saks Direct, the online channel of Saks Fifth Avenue. Previously, Burgess served as Executive Vice President of the Consumer Division of FTD, and prior to that as Vice President and General Manager, Internet Business, of Teleflora both leaders in the online floral and gifting category. He began his business career at McKinsey & Company, where he led and served on teams providing strategic management services to several Global 500 companies in a variety of industries.
Burgess earned his Bachelor of Commerce in Finance and his Bachelor of Laws from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia and his MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Billy May, VP, eCommerce, Digital and Marketing, Abercrombie & Fitch
Billy May is the Vice President of eCommerce, Digital, and Marketing at Abercrombie and Fitch where he oversees all aspects of the company's interactive, multichannel, and direct-to-consumer operations. Prior to joining A&F, Billy was Vice President and General Manager of Global eCommerce at adidas Group. He also held ecommerce leadership positions with multichannel retailers Sears Holdings and Lowe's Companies, achieving growth rates that consistently exceeded industry benchmarks. Previously, he was a management consultant with Diamond Technology Partners advising clients on critical strategic and operational challenges. His entry into the online space came in the mid-90s when he led the National Accounts vertical for website and application hosting pioneer Digex, now a division of Verizon. Billy is a fourth generation retailer who started his career as a management trainee and buyer with May Company. He received his BA with Honors and Distinction from the University of Virginia and a MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University.
Mark Simpson, Founder & President, Maxymiser
A career long evangelist of online businesses, Mark is the commercial founder of Maxymiser and introduced its revolutionary Conversion Management platform to the market in 2006. Prior to Maxymiser, Mark headed up online marketing and business development for Travelport, focusing in particular on the acquisition and integration of ebookers, Octopus Travel, Hotel Club and RatesToGo. Latterly Mark headed-up the Business Development, Search and PPC teams for Travelport. Mark was previously part of the team that launched Hitwise in the UK market. Mark is a thought leader in the conversion marketplace, speaking globally at conferences and quoted regularly in the marketing press. He graduated with a BCom Honours degree in Commerce from the University of Birmingham.
