A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF MUSIC FOR ORANGE CUSTOMERS
Orange launches exclusive music services
London, 16 June 2004. Orange today announces the launch of two exclusive music services to mark the start of a programme of entertainment for Orange music lovers. From 1 July, Orange customers can turn DJ and remix their favourite tracks on their phones with Fireplayer ®. They will also be able to download full-length tracks directly to their phone using the Music Player without the need for a separate music-playing device.
The two new services represent deals signed by Orange with technology providers and record labels to provide its customers with a choice of tracks from a wide range of artists. Fireplayer, provided by Bounce Technology and Music Player, provided by Chaoticom are exclusive to Orange for 12 months.
Orange has confirmed deals with V2 and Warner Music and is in the process of finalising deals with all the major record labels and some independents to secure content for both products. The music deals allow Orange to provide a broad range of music for both Fireplayer and Music Player.
Mark Ashford, Head of Entertainment at Orange UK said:
“The launch of Fireplayer and Music Player demonstrates the Orange commitment to music, striving to ensure that our customers receive the most exciting music experience through their phones. Orange is committed to ensuring that customers have the choice of the latest products and services on their phones.”
Beth Appleton, New Media and Business Development Manager from V2 said:
“The Mobile Music Market is fast becoming a critical part of our business and we are very pleased to be working with Orange and their partners Chaoticom and Fireplayer to provide alternative music products and services for music fans. The continued growth and development of the mobile arena in the UK is very exciting and we look forward to seeing the results of this innovative partnership.”
Orange will be demonstrating the new services at the Orange music 247 tent at this summer’s music festivals, including Glastonbury, T In The Park and Reading & Leeds. Fireplayer will be profiled by a selection of DJ ambassadors at these events, including DJ Yoda, Rob da Bank, Ali B and Dub Pistols’ Barry Ashworth, who will be supporting Orange over the summer music festival season.
Both products are free to download and tracks can be downloaded easily via Orange World:
Fireplayer: Using the phone keys, Fireplayer users can add sound effects, vocals, beats, bass and save their own mixes as True Tone ringtones. Once a track is downloaded they can record as many different mixes as they wish.
Music Player: Users can download their favourite full-length music tracks from a constantly updated list of the latest tunes and listen to them wherever they go without the need for any extra devices.
