I am currently working on measuring the effectiveness of our marketing and communications activities. I must mention that we have already implemented Google Analytics on our website and I am already analyzing our various marketing activities through this. My question is whether or not there are other tools available to measure our marketing/communications activities other than Google Analytics.
For example, we have just had a report published about us,
and we would like to see if the peak in traffic to our
website was due to this published report. Google Analytics does not directly show a peak in visits due to the report as it was in PDF format and there were no links to our website. How would we be able to figure this out?
If the PDF is published externally, you can attribute a rise in direct traffic to the report.
If the PDF is linked off your website you can create whats called a 'virtual page' within Google Analytics and track the amount of clicks the report attracts.
I hope this helps.

Hi there,
Visit http://www.google.com/support/analytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55578 and add the URL, name of report, campaign or whatever and let google build you a new trackable url. You can do this for any content on your site that does not conform to the normal tracking available. You can also use the generated URL to create a goal for easy performance viewing.
I hope this helps.

Call tracking technology is a great way of tracking your online to offline conversions, for example, how many people call you as a result of looking at your website, social media or offline advertising, giving you a more holistic picture of how well your marketing is working.
