Does anyone know of any good suppliers for active desktop / news ticker applications? Plus approx how much I should expect to pay?

In terms of scope I am thinking of a ticker similar to the BBC news ticker. The active desktop could be similar to skinkers...(or are they the best solution?)

    Thanks

    Hi Caroline,

Are you after an off-the-shelf product?  The reason I am asking is that depending on what you want it for and what platform you are currently using you could even get a custom one made and not too expensively either.    ...just food for thought.

    regards,

    Hi Caroline

We have developed a number of bespoke desktop applications which reuses a framework we have built to manage:
    • Sending marketing messages to users
    • Reporting on usage including social activity such as forward to a friend
    • Providing live feeds from 3rd party sources with highly effective caching mechanisms i.e. 100,000+ users pinging the server every 10 seconds for new content is quite a challenge to manage.
    • Cross platform support
    • Self updating in the background i.e. user never need to actively download a new version

You can see a version which is running now for Betinternet at http://www.betinternet.com - click on the "Goal alerts" button and that will take you to the download page.

If you want to find out more please do get in touch.
