Mydeco have approached us to become one of there retail partners? They require us to be with them a minimum of 12 months though which seems like a big commitment. I was wondering if anyone here has had any experience with them?

It's a bit like Google Adwords. ie you pay for each click going from them to you, not on any clicks that actually result in sales. And the higher the amount you agree to each month, the higher up the mydeco search results you'd be. It's the kind of thing that might be worth it in smaller categories of products but in more popular cats you'll be up against companies with bigger budgets so they'll win the 'competition'. They seem like a decent bunch at mydeco so maybe they'll either let you go in for less than 12 months OR set a low monthly fee so it's not too onerous for 12 months and you can always increase the spend.

    Hi

MyDeco typically operate as an "affiliate" whereas they work with retailers on a pre-agreed commission rate, typically between 3-10% of the sales value.

This is usually managed via an affiliate network or affiliate agency.  I used to manage MyDeco as one of our affiliates in my time at House of Fraser and we are currently migrating a client at 7thingsmedia onto MyDeco.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at chris.bishop@7thingsmedia.com

    Thanks, Chris

    Hello,

Thanks Chris and Susan, you’re both right! At mydeco.com we’re really focused on creating successful relationships with retailers across the homeware industry – Which means we aim to be more than just an affiliate for them, and we have progressed to offer category specific cpc rates and hybrid cpa/ cpc commercial terms to support these deeper relationships.  In the 18 months we’ve been live we’ve been able to send strong levels of qualified traffic to our retail partners, as well provide some great branding opportunities across the mydeco network.

One thing we’re keen to do as a new business is learn what works; from experimental promotional activity from sharing insight on SEO and feed formatting to increase conversion. We do work on 12 month rolling contract, but there is a break clause written into all contracts to protect both parties. If you have any further questions about becoming a partner on mydeco, drop me an email at jenna@mydeco.com.
    Many Thanks,

    Jenna
