The internet will account for a fifth of all UK advertising revenue by 2009, and will almost match the amount spent on TV advertising, according to figures from ZenithOptimedia.
The group's Advertising Expenditure Forecast reveals that the UK has the world’s highest proportion of online ad revenues, at 13.5%. This is attributed to the strength of the BBC.

A UK media company has launched what it calls the ‘first intelligent online video search site’.
Coull.tv allows users to search for specific moments within videos, click on and interact with moving objects while the video is playing, as well as adding tags and comments.

In a bid to turn the general public into amateur reporters, Yahoo! and Reuters have teamed up allow users to upload their photos and videos for use on their news sites.
From tomorrow, user-generated photos and videos will be displayed alongside news items on Yahoo! News and Reuters.com.

has bought UK-based shopping comparison network
Shopping.net
in a £6.7m deal.
The move follows ValueClick’s acquisition of comparison shopping site PriceRunner.com two years ago and will see Shopping.net positioned alongside ValueClick Europe’s other online marketing services.

BT is close to a major content deal with Warner Brothers in advance of the launch of its combined television and broadband service, BT Vision.

UK shoppers are expected to spend some £180m online today, making it the busiest day of the year for UK etailers.
The IMRG predicts today will see the most ever goods sold online in a single day, with etailers generating 40% more sales than last year's high of £131m.
