Useful info, we have sites all round the world and our stats largely match up with the infographic.
Aus sites not quite that high but have seen rapid increases.

Well I guess that depends where you live and what you are used to. A lot of the regions that jumped directly to Cell-internet do not compare. In other areas the shopping is still done from home on your wifi. *(or other wifi-spots; café/work/airports…) And in some countries the 3g/4g net is almost as fast or faster then some fixed lines.

Yes it is interesting, and as more people utilise smartphones and tablets its sure to increase.
Debenhams and Tesco have announced they'll be offering free wi-fi in their stores, it's already on some buses (I remember bus journeys to school talking with mates, having fun, now they'll all be head down accessing sites and texting and comparing smartphones - not showing my age of course!)
When EE (4G) and ubiquitous wi-fi gradients in, surely mobile access will soon dominate the top spot for entry points to a website, wonder how long that will be?

How important is it for companies to have a mobile website instead of a regular website that can be accessed by mobile devices? It seems that if companies don't have a mobile site, users may be turned of by using a regular site that would be slower on a mobile devices.

I think there is a big factor that plays an important role in the volume of mobile commerce shopping by people, and that is trust. Many people do not rely on mobile commerce or eCommerce sites easily as they are worried of information getting misused.
The trust factor which allows these consumers to freely shop on these sites is lower. Intense marketing and proving the trustworthiness of the website should be done to ensure more transactions on eCommerce and mCommerce sites.
