More than 50% of households in the 25 EU countries now have access to the web, according to a new report.
The survey was carried out by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the EU, and the findings confirm the growth of broadband connections. The data is from the first quarter of 2006.

A new Nielsen//NetRatings report has revealed that young people are the biggest spenders when it comes to online content, with the 16-24 year old age group leading the way.
Overall, UK internet users currently spend an average of £3 a month on downloading content, with videos taking 43% of the market.

A new pay-as-you-go Visa voucher for online shopping has been released today, in an attempt to get more people shopping online.
Figures from the 3V Transaction Services ‘online shopper’ study reveal that around a fifth of people want to shop online but are reluctant to do so, and that over 9 million people in the UK are left behind by the online shopping boom.

The BBC could make up to £105 million from online advertising on its BBC Worldwide web services, according to a strategy report from Accenture.
The Guardian reports that the BBC is considering bringing in ad revenue from overseas viewers of its website, though BBC staff have previously voiced their opposition to online advertising.

European visits to career-related websites jumped by 11% year on year in Q3, according to new figures from comScore.
The study showed sites dedicated to online career resources, job searches and training attracted 50 million visitors per month during the quarter, with Monster leading the category.
