It is five years to the day that Apple launched the almighty iPod. The device has undoubtedly transformed the way many of us buy and listen to music. In the last five years, 68 million iPods have been sold, and the company holds a staggering 75% share of the market.
Alongside the iPod's success, its companion service iTunes now holds 88% of the legal music download market and is now more than breaking even, according to Apple CFO Peter Oppenheimer.

Robin Good has some interesting tips about the effective use of video to market your products and services online. Video marketing can be excellent method of communicating the benefits of your products or services within a short space of time.
When a visitor is delivered to your site by a search engine or some other link, they will be looking for the information they require instantly. A good video demo can save them having to trawl through the site to find the information or, worse still, deciding to look elsewhere.

According to Apple Insider, two new iPod–based mobile phones could be released within the next few months, initially in small quantities to test the waters.
Apple appeared to confirm such rumours last month, when they registered the trademark for the name ‘iPhone’ in the US, after months of speculation about the product.

The predicted backlash against the infringement of copyright by video sharing sites has begun, with Universal Music launching legal action in the US against both Grouper.com and Bolt.com.
Universal, whose artists include U2 and Mariah Carey, is seeking compensation of up to $150,000 for each incident of copyright infringement, as well as demanding that the sites cease using their content.

Richard Menta at mp3newswire has been reviewing potential ‘iPod killers’ since 2004 and he rounds up the potential challengers for Apple’s crown in the run up to the Christmas shopping season.
Of the 149 portable MP3 players he has reported on in the past two years, not one has yet managed to dent the popularity of Apple’s device, which has become a generic name for the MP3 player.

After paying $1.6bn for the world's favourite video sharing site this week, Google could be facing copyright problems over some of the site's video content, as content owners take advantage of the search engine giant's deeper pockets.
Media group Time Warner has indicated that it will be pursuing its copyright claims against YouTube with its new owners, and other companies may well choose to follow suit.
