We are an online retailer who would like to create a forum, 'Ask the Expert', with Guest Speakers but encouraging customers' views too. We would like the forum content to be searchable in Google ie to be seen as content as we have some good expert material. Plus ideally we want to brand it with our brand, colours etc.

Does anyone have any software they can recommend which is relatively painless to implement and is easy to monitor postings?

    Have a look at http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/genericContent.do?oid=193271
who have created a great community online.

I believe the technology behind it is supplied by www.pluck.com.

    I hope this is useful,

vBulletin is probably going to be perfect for you; widely used, re-skinnable and with good moderation tools (you will be checking the stuff from users, won't you?) Rob. Chat Moderators.

I would recommend Phorum http://www.phorum.org, it is fairly simple to implement and very flexible i.e. it comes as a basic version then you install the bits you require. For example I use it  for a London community website and have installed a bit that emails me every message posted, saves me having to re-visit the site to check what's being said.

Feedback from users is that they find it very easy to use and the site ranks very well on Google. Branding  the forum would be a case of adjusting the templates, style sheets and adding you own imagery.

    I hope that helps

    Mark
