Global games specialist Babel Media has upgraded its mobile department by investing a further £100,000 in personnel, training and equipment.
The investment is a move to solve one of the most pressing problems facing developers, publishers and operators: how to deliver applications to the market quickly and cost efficiently when faced with an array of logistic challenges. These include an ever-expanding number of handsets, firmwares, testing standards and certification programs, all for multiple markets.
Babel addresses this problem by providing an integrated service that includes localisation, functionality and localisation test, automated porting using Tira Wireless's Jump technology, and certification.
Babel's in-house team of 50 can port exhaustively tested applications to multiple handsets in whichever language publishers and operators require. This service dramatically shortens time to market and brings quality mobile games to an ever-increasing audience.
The company now works with more than 40 global content providers across all the latest handsets from Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Panasonic, Sharp, Siemens and Sony Ericsson. The company works in all European languages as well as in Turkish, Arabic and Chinese.

Babel's move into mobile games testing came at the start of 2002 when it launched the world's first wireless lab for games. The company is Vodafone's exclusive certification house for the Vodafone Live! network.
The company's expertise and experience in console and PC gaming has proved invaluable to operators as mobile games have gone mass market. According to UK-based analysts ARC, the games share of global mobile entertainment revenues will rise from 14% to 30% to $8.3 billion in 2008.
