Having trained and then worked in the marketing Industry for over 10 years I have built up a substantial base of knowledge and experience in the digital marketing industry. After being asked increasingly "how should I use social media and virtual worlds in my marketing mix" I decided to start a marketing consultancy that focuses on exactly that question, which is great because this is the area I am passionate about.
My focus has always been on understanding and building online communities- now more likely referred to as "social media". I studied a degree at Bournemouth on Advertising and Marketing, but specialised in digital media (completing my dissertation on e-commerce). Despite a year working for RPM- a 'real' events company, I then worked for Sulake (also known as Habbo.co.uk) for 4.5 years as the Marketing Manager, from which I have built up a vast amount of experience in a variety of disciplines including; content partnerships, advertising networks, SEM, SEO, email marketing, e-commerce, online payment systems. Not satisfied with that however I completed my Masters in digital media and creative strategy, while working full-time, to learn how to best use and combine the increasing number of digital opportunities and tools that are becoming available to marketers.
I want to help small, medium enterprises (SME) to be able to access these tools, as they CAN delivery greater accountability of marketing budgets, as well as tie this spend back to a companies bottom lines. Furthermore I believe that this is the best time to be a marketeer, as no longer can you but HUT ratings and get away with large amounts of wastage on simplistic media buys. We have entered the conversation age and I want to show company's how to embrace it, as well as their customers.
