I was recently asked about interactive chat or customer service agent technology / service providers. Specifically I was asked whether I was aware of anyone other thanLivePerson.
I'm aware of a couple of others, but none that I know which have live implementations in the UK or really seem to compete in any meaningful way with LivePerson.
Surely there must be active competitors out there? Anyone know who they are? Anyone got any comments or insight in terms of interactive chat / online customer service solutions for the UK market?

We find that PHP Live! is a good alternative. http://www.phplivesupport.com is a good place to get it. We like this because it is robust, and you can modify the source code as required.
We now have one client with whom we have integrated PHPLive! with data from their CRM system to create a very useful application that does three things:
As you might imagine the application is dramatically improving site conversion!

Please have a look at www.synthetix.com . We have produced numerous Intelligent Agents for many clients. (BBC, Ford, Vauxhall, Egg etc) They are completetly customisable, and have proven their business case. PLease give me a call if you want more details. Anyway, have a chat with Sali online to see what you think.

Take a look at lingubot (www.kiwilogic.com) it’s much less offensive than a human interrupting your visit and far more manageable for large online clients.
Most of our clients couldn't manage a system that interacts with website visitors unless they set up a call center like office.
