The annual Levi's® Digital Arts Award (LDAA) are calling for tutors to register so they can enter their students for the LDAA.
Established in 2003, the LDAA is an initiative by Levi's® Europe to foster young and emerging talent in New Media Art and Design. It gives students an opportunity to design for one of the world's most recognised brands, working to a real brief and with the possibility of their work appearing on the Levi's® Europe brand website, www.eu.levi.com.
"It makes sense to try to integrate this competition as much as possible with existing coursework, and so selecting the tutors as the central point of contact between the college and eu.levi.com helps streamline the overall administration of the competition. It's in no way compulsory that tutors register, but due to the popularity of LDAA, we'd just prefer it if you did!" said Helene Venge, Digital
Marketing Manager, Levi's® Europe.
Not only do the short-listed students get an opportunity to appear on the Levi's® Europe website, the overall winning student will receive an Apple iBook and an opportunity to partake in the internship program* at the award-winning agency Lateral, Levi's® Europe's digital marketing agency.
"All of us in the early days learned by example so we are looking for the next generation to lead in the same way. This reflects the true spirit of the Levi's® brand and we are happy to be a part of it," said Jon Bains, Chairman of Lateral.
Levi's® Europe will provide design assets. These will be sent out on a CD, with the brief, to all registered tutors on the 9th of February 2004.
All student entries are to be in by the 19th of April 2004.
A shortlist of five entries will be selected by a panel of top creatives from Levi's® Europe, BBH (Levi's® advertising agency) and Lateral. The finalists will be displayed on the site and the public will be invited to vote for the winner.
Due to the fact that the Levi's® Europe website infrastructure is quite complex, it is important that all students entering the competition complete their entries to defined specifications. Please visit the site to get a feel of the way it works. Any entries that do not follow these specifications will unfortunately be not be entered
into the competition.
Entries will be accepted in any of the five major languages on the site. English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
