MojoPages, a new social search venture, has adopted a documentary-style videoblog to build buzz around its forthcoming launch, while engaging users even before a beta website has launched, to help with aspects such as design and usability.
The website, which will rank businesses in line with user ratings, aims to improve on standard directory-style services such as Yellow Pages.

MySpace founder Brad Greenspan isn't too happy with the censorship creeping into the social networking behemoth, so he has decided to take the matter to the US courts.
Greenspan’s lawsuit accuses the company of censoring users of the world's most popular social networking site by barring references to competing websites, including his own.

BSkyB today announced a strong rise in subscribers to its pay-TV services, though profits have been hit by the cost of launching a new broadband service.
The company had its best Q1 performance in three years, adding 82,000 digital satellite customers up to September 30th. BSkyB now has 8.25 million subscribers in total.

Former head of BBC News Online Bob Eggington has launched a video search engine called searchbbcvideo.com to allow users to scour the BBC archives for clips.
The company claims that the new site it does a better job of finding BBC videos than the corporation’s own online search tools.

Amazon is testing a new advertising programme, Clickriver, which allows businesses to place sponsored links on Amazon.com next to search results and on product detail pages.
Amazon's Clickriver Ads, which appears to be a version of Adwords, was built by A9.com, a search technologies subsidiary of Amazon.

A new report predicts that ad spending on social networks is growing rapidly as more advertisers take advantage of the huge audiences generated by such websites.
According to the eMarketer report, ad spending on social network sites is predicted to reach $2.15 billion by 2010, with MySpace predicted to continue its dominance.
