Please re-check your source data for "49% of US mobile users prefer to use the browser vs native apps". The Comscore report says nothing of the sort. 49% of US mobile users use a browser at all. 50.2% use apps. Since somewhere just over 50% of US mobile users have a smartphone we're likely talking about the exact same users, with a small number exclusively using apps. That stat really says nothing about preference.

"Downloaded applications were used by 50.2 percent of subscribers (up 1.6 percentage points), while browsers were used by 49.0 percent (up 0.5 percentage points)." - The believe stat was just shortened.

With Shivs you can recapture a bunch of that IE 6-8 share. That would have been a perfect opportunity to add a cool call out to your IG and reassure marketers that things are possible. Instead you just told them that 28% of "their market" would not be able to see their website if the had it coded in HTML5.
