Fast growing social travel site WAYN has raised £5.7m in a funding round led by Esprit Capital Partners.
The move has also seen co-founder of Lastminute.com Brent Hoberman, one of the investors, becoming the site's non-executive chairman.

Over two thirds of UK retailers are missing out on potential revenues by not offering their goods for sale online, according to a survey by Barclaycard.
The company said many retailers are reluctant to embrace e-commerce because of the perception that set up costs are too high and that a high level of technical know-how is needed.

Philip Lenssen at Google Blogoscoped has an interesting / outrageous article about Digg’s use of moderators – it seems that Digg has them, but is rather coy about admitting it.
Contrary to the approach favoured by Jason Calcanis at Netscape, Digg has always prided itself on being entirely user-driven, claiming that everything on the site is submitted and managed by the community.
Yet this is not remotely accurate...

According to new figures, the number of ‘spam’ messages has tripled since June and now accounts for as many as nine out of ten emails sent worldwide.
Despite efforts by government officials and computer firms to crack down on spam, spammers are sending out more junk email than ever, finding new ways to get past filters and other security measures.

The survey, of 2,070 people, found 43% of Britons that view video on the web or mobiles at least once a week watch less TV as a result.

Although adoption of podcasts is on the up, very few web users are regular listeners, according to a new survey.
Research by the Pew Internet and American Life Project found 12% of US internet users had downloaded a podcast, a rise from 7% in February.

Online spending rose by 42% on ‘Black Friday' - the day after Thanksgiving in the US - according to figures from analysis group comScore.
Total US online spending for the first 24 days of November reached $8.31bn, a 23% increase over the same period in 2005. Black Friday saw a 42% increase on 2005's figures.
