According to new stats from comScore, the number of US web shoppers watching videos on e-commerce sites has grown by 40% in a single year, as more retailers have started to use them as a sales tool.
A number of UK e-commerce sites are already using video on their product pages to promote items, but should more be doing this? And which sites are using product videos effectively?

The online population has exceeded one billion users, and that's not even taking into account minors or mobile web users.
comScore's World Metrix audience measurement services found the online population of peope using home or work computers to access the internet broke the benchmark one billion barrier in December.

comScore reported yesterday that Americans watched 34% more online
videos this past November than they did a year ago in November 2007. This amounts
to a whopping 12.7bn videos watched in a single month.
Google properties, which include YouTube, remained the top online video
destinations, drawing nearly 98m unique viewers and accounting
for just over 40% of videos watched.
