Digital channels continue to provide advertisers with an ever-growing number of options for marketing to consumers, but there's a problem: many of their messages don't get through.
Many consumers, bombarded by ads, many of which they see as annoyances, have blinded themselves to certain types of ad units, and some, in an attempt to squash ads altogether, have turned to ad blocking software. Coupled with poorly-placed units, advertisers often have no idea how many of their ads have actually been viewed or were even viewable, prompting calls for viewability standards.

Mobile is growing, and fast. For example, use of mobile search has grown by 500% over the past two years, while average smartphone usage almost tripled in 2011.
Many are predicting that mobile internet use will replace the desktop, and it is predicted to overtake it in 2015.

Despite its ominous sounding name, Black Friday is always one of busiest shopping days of the year for US retailers as shoppers spend their day off hunting for bargains online.
It's quickly followed by Cyber Monday, another bumper pay day for e-commerce sites as the spending continues after the weekend.

Australia and Brazil are the leading countries for percentage of mobile traffic to retailers, 47% and 40% respectively, compared to 31% for the US and UK.
The data, taken from 200m visits to Mobify-powered websites, gives a picture of mobile commerce trends around the world.

Many moons ago, in April 2012, I wrote a humorous post about how not to make an infographic, where I enthusiastically chastised a selection of misguided visualisations.
A few people chortled and applauded at the time but many others requested a more positive follow-up post featuring helpful tips on how to actually create and promote an infographic, with personal examples.
Fair enough - and since then I've been involved in a few projects that fit the bill with the most recent example being an infographic for Snowskool, a company that specialises in ski instructor courses.
The infographic was created as a collaboration with the talented Snowskool team and released two weeks ago on Visual.ly, Facebook, and the Snowskool blog: Myskool.
