With 18% of internet users still thinking it's too risky to shop on the web (source: GetSafeOnline), it’s clear that there's a big opportunity out there if etailers can persuade these wily refuseniks that e-commerce is safe.
One thing that might help them is PayOffline - a system launched in August last year that enables consumers to shop online but pay for their goods at one of 17,000 physical locations around the UK.

Analytics firm Omniture has had an industrious few months, making a series of buyouts to boost its offering in the ‘online business optimisation’ space.
These include reporting supplier InStadia, site optimisation vendor TouchClarity, A/B and multivariate testing company Offermatica (finalised this month) and most recently Visual Sciences, one of Omniture’s main rivals at the top end of the market.
We spoke to the company’s EMEA general manager and senior vice president Neil Weston about future challenges and opportunities in the sector, including concerns over the acquisitions’ potential impact on innovation.
We also asked about the pros and cons of Google’s assault on web analytics - its strategic threat for suppliers, as well as how many customers Omniture has picked up from Google's product.

Online video start-up Tape it off the internet (TIOTI) came out of beta recently and announced that it had bagged some funding from Pond Venture Partners.
Calling itself a social media aggregator for internet TV, TIOTI doesn’t host content but provides links to where it can be found, including the likes of YouTube, Veoh and Joost.
We spoke to UK-based founding partner and creator Paul Cleghorn to find out a bit more, as well as to get his thoughts on online video business models, copyright issues and IPTV.

WooMe is the latest upstart to take on the web dating establishment, launching out of beta last week.
Backed by European VCs Niklas Zennström, Janus Friis and Klaus Hommels, it enables speed daters to interact via in-browser Flash video technology, then charges them to contact each other if they are ‘woo’d’.
It has competition in the form of SpeedDate.com, among others, but says it is also being used for a range of non romance-related tasks. It has also been approached by firms that want to use its technology in HR, internal comms and elsewhere.
