Despite the amount of deals on offer, and the convenience of booking holidays online, many US internet users still prefer to book their travel over the phone, with perceived security problems the main reason cited.
Forrester Research polled over 5,000 US consumers in the last quarter of 2006 to find out the reasons for their reluctance to use the web for holiday reservations.

Microsoft researchers have been looking into the problem of junk web pages, and have found that most of this 'search engine spam' comes from just two web hosting firms.
Microsoft's research, entitled Spam Double-Funnel: Connecting Web Spammers with Advertisers, looked primarily into redirection spam and reveals that the links to spam web pages are generated by a small number of people, with some major advertisers, hosting services and ad syndicators turning a blind eye.

An interactive map produced by the company shows Tokelau’s .tk domain has the highest proportion of nuisance sites that are tracked by its SiteAdvisor security software.

Social news bookmarking site Digg will adopt the increasingly popular OpenID passwords framework amongst a raft of new features.
Founder Kevin Rose announced at the Future of Web Apps (FoWA) conference in London yesterday that similar announcements this year from Microsoft, Yahoo! and AOL had hastened the site's move.

A poll conducted by RSA, the security division of EMC, suggests that online banking customers are becoming more concerned about security issues, and would like banks to take more steps to combat fraud.
RSA's Financial Institution Consumer Online Fraud Survey was conducted in December and polled 1,678 adults from the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, Australia, Singapore and India.
