The number of UK small businesses making phone calls over the internet is set to double over the next year, according to research carried out for BT.
The company said the number of firms using VoIP will rise from the current 25% to 48%.

eCourier, the start-up best known for its hi-tech assault on London’s delivery companies, is now targeting the online retail sector with an API it plans to launch later this year.
The firm, which cuts costs by managing its couriers through software rather than human controllers, hopes the API will encourage etailers to use its system for short notice deliveries to shoppers.

EMI CEO Eric Nicoli and Apple CEO Steve Jobs have announced that music from EMI's back catalogue will soon be available to buy on iTunes without DRM copyright protections.
In a press conference held this afternoon, the pair announced the plans, in response to consumer demands for the ability to transfer music between different devices.

The number of UK broadband connections reached 13.1m at the end of last year, up from 9.8m at the end of 2005, according to the latest figures.
Point Topic's Q4 survey puts the worldwide total of broadband lines at 281.5m, with 17.7m lines added in the three months. The year on year growth rate was 31.1%, with broadband penetration worldwide reaching 5.4%.

Bowen Craggs has published a study on how the 60 biggest corporations' sites rank in terms of serving the media, customers and investors.
The FT Bowen Craggs Index studied 20 corporate websites from Europe, 20 from the US, and 20 from the rest of the world. Of the top ten websites, eight were from Europe, and two from the US.

A massive new distribution centre due to be built in south Wales by Amazon.co.uk will be partially operational in time for the 2007 Christmas e-commerce rush.
The retailer yesterday announced it is to create its fourth UK fulfillment HQ, spanning 800,000sqft, near Swansea following an incentive package from the Welsh Assembly Government.
