Google has expanded its empire into the in-game ad market, with the acquisition of Adscape for $23m (£11.8m).
Adscape's technology allows advertisers to place ads within games, as well as giving marketers the ability to measure ad performance.

Tripadvisor has confirmed it is planning to syndicate content to other websites in a bid to expand its already massive online community.
The site, which houses over 5m reviews of destinations and hotels, said it has received numerous approaches from travel companies about content licensing deals.

BT has struck a deal with Universal Music Group for the group's music videos to be made available on BT Vision's on demand service.
This follows recent content deals with companies like Sony BMG and Warner Brothers, which have helped BT to build up a catalogue of music, film and TV programming for its new TV service.

Steve Rubel at Micro Persuasion has an interesting article where he speculates what will replace the page view metric, which he believes will be dead by 2010.
Page view or page impression figures are easy to manipulate and don’t give a true measure of a site’s popularity. For instance, merely splitting content over several pages can falsely inflate a site’s figures.

Former Skype VP of marketing and Video Island founder Saul Klein has joined Index Ventures to help the VC firm’s hunt for new web investments.
The London-based company has just announced the closure of a EU350m fund – its fourth - to focus on European firms in IT, life sciences and clean tech.
Klein, who will be based in Index’s London office, will help spend the new cashpile as well as working on Index’s existing portfolio, which includes the likes of Betfair, Netvibes and Last.fm.

Pheedo, an RSS ad network, has announced the launch of its FeedPowered ad platform, which enables marketers to use text and video RSS content within ad widgets.
FeedPowered ads are on-site advertisements which can present updated text, video or audio from any RSS feed.

Online gambling firm 888 Holdings Plc has posted a 7% rise in profits for 2006, despite the loss of business which resulted from the recent US ban on online gambling.
888 Holdings lost just over half its sales and was forced to cut 25% of its workforce after shutting down its US operations when Congress banned internet gambling.

Banks are planning to issue their customers with handheld credit card readers under a new pilot scheme to combat online fraud.
The project is being pioneered by APACS, the UK payments association, to give customers greater protection when shopping on the internet or the phone.

WordTracker has launched a UK version of its keyword search tool, allowing marketers access to UK-specific research in order to adjust their keywords to the market.
Wordtracker's UK specific keyword search has been incorporated into the company's subscription service, which is priced at between £4.20 for a day's access to £140 for a year, and is used by many search marketing professionals.
