About Me
Alisdair Blackman has been in the digital industry in Australia (Sydney & Melbourne) since 1996.
Formed his first digital agency in 1996, specialising in blending online with traditional offline (primarily print) medias. IXION as an agency was around 8 permanent staff and turned over AUD$1.2m in 2006. Clients included: Darrell Lea, PIMCO, Macarthur Coal & Department of Education Science and Training.
In 2006 Alisdair sold IXION INTERACTIVE to BlueFreeway Limited. He then setup Blackglass in May 2007 which focussed in on online marketing and in particular the creation of Digital BluePrints and Online Marketing Plans to aid the growth and maturation of online businesses through way of commercialisation. Blackglass clients include, Fairfax Business, Sydney Airports, La Trobe University, Dulux, Kerri-Anne Kennerley, HotDockets etc. Blackglass turned over around AUD$2.8m (2007 & 2008).
Alisdair is a seasoned public speaker and often guest lectures at the University of Sydney, University of New South Wales, Sydney TAFE on topics such as entrepreneurship and trends in online advertising.
Alisdair has been a board member of the Internet Industry Association (IIA) since 2005 and is Chairman of the IIA’s Marketing Taskforce and have previously held positions with AIMIA – Australia's primary industry body for the digital marketing and media industry. Currently, he is an Executive member of the National Policy Advisory Committee responsible for providing the Rudd government with policy recommendations that shall directly impact the future state of Australia's internet industry.
Alisdair is currently heading up a small consultancy firm called Digital Rehab that provides a range of online businesses the following services: strategy & planning, online marketing and monetisation / commericialisation.
