About Me

The green field was founded at the end of 2008 by Andrew Thomas with the singular purpose of helping people, organisations and companies develop well thought through strategies, to harness the opportunities offered by digital and interactive channels.

Andrew up until the end of 2008 was an Executive Director at Bounty and part of the management team that sold the business to the publicly listed Canadian company Kaboose for £70 million. Bounty is the leading direct marketing business focusing on expectant mothers and new parent households. It serves clients such as Procter & Gamble and Johnson & Johnson by distributing their products and promotional materials directly to new parents via its promotional packs delivered within hospitals.

ECI Partners backed the initial buyout of the company from Havas in 2004 and since then the company has focussed on developing Bounty.com into the major portal for the young family life stage, offering both information from third parties and support via its social network. Andrew joined Bounty in 2005 to develop their e-business opportunity and commercialise what is the leading online meeting point for mums in the UK. With over three quarters of a million opted-in members and 19 million pages viewed each month, the site is the UK’s favourite parenting and specialist female site. Andrew assumed responsibility for all Bounty’s consumer facing activity both in terms of its own brand and third party relationships.

Andrew’s experience extends back over twenty years having joined BMP DDB in London in the late eighties, after completing five years as a captain in the British Army. He spent most of his advertising agency time working for McCann-Erickson in London and Manchester in a succession of account management, planning and business development roles on brands such as Black & Decker, Gillette, Clarks, Unilever and Philips.

He founded McCann’s UK Network digital operation in Manchester in 1999 and was responsible for helping brands such as Sainsbury’s Bank, Thomson Holidays and Magnet migrate their marketing spend online and develop significant digital propositions. He ran the McCann-i operation until 2004 when he left to join Pavilion Communications as Managing Director – now part of the Hasgrove Group – until he joined Bounty in 2005.

In addition to running the green field, Andrew is a Media Development Professional with North West Media and Vision and remains a trustee of the Bounty Charitable Trust. He is a frequently quoted spokesperson in the new media press and a regular conference speaker.
