About Me

Helen Mitchell is an e-marketing and e-commerce specialist with over 10 years experience working with digital technologies in financial services, not-for-profit organisations and e-learning.  

Helen has been Director of EMEA E-commerce and Business Intelligence at Fidelity, the global investment management company. In this role she lead the strategic development of Fidelity’s online businesses in Europe, Middle East and Africa, including the next generation customer experience for 17 of the biggest markets. As head of Business Intelligence, she also established a KPI-based measurement strategy for Fidelity’s customer contact channels across web, phone and paper in order to monitor operational cost, revenues and marketing effectiveness.

Before joining Fidelity, Helen worked as a consultant to companies seeking to develop e-commerce propositions to maximise revenues and brand awareness, and prior to that she was Vice President at Deutsche Bank, responsible for e-commerce for pan-European equities and structured products. Whilst at Deutsche Bank she developed several industry-leading web sites including a research and trading portal rolled out across all major EU markets and the well-know Xavex x-markets platform. 

She has also worked for Bankers Trust, an American investment bank, and re-launched their internet web site for retail and institutional clients in Germany, Switzerland and Benelux for equities and fixed income derivatives.

Career History

Director, EMEA ecommerce and business intelligence at Fidelity
From October 30, 2005 until January 26, 2009.

Responsible for definition and end-to-end delivery of web strategy and next-generation customer experience across EMEA (ex. UK), including new business development, brand, service, all online marketing and client communications (email, SEO/SEM, PPC and affiliate/partnership marketing).

E-business Consultant at Self-employed
From January 1, 2003 until October 1, 2005.

Developed comprehensive strategies (incl. business plan development, project planning, relationship management and product development) for companies wishing to improve their marketing position, business efficiency and maximise revenues • Advised top tier bank on re-engineering of global corporate web site and customer segmentation strategy. Retained to establish programme office, manage project teams (20+ people) and outsourced development work • Managed multiple projects for Board of newly formed charity, including definition and implementation of e-marketing strategy, and establishment of structured methodologies to facilitate transition to new business model • Consultant to interactive agency, advising on business case and venture capital funding for new business initiative

Vice President, Client Connectivity Group at Deutsche Bank
From January 1, 1999 until November 1, 2002.

Assistant programme manager of e-commerce product development team established to effect change and reduce operating costs across traditional business lines • Managed bank’s first e-commerce initiative focused on client segmentation and tiered service model • Created multi-disciplinary programme office to develop and deliver fully integrated product set • Established first-ever defined development process (RUP) to drive business-centric approach to technology • Worked with senior management to form global governance framework with heads of trading, marketing and technology. Resulted in championship of programme by Board • Managed 60+ business stakeholders and 20+ IT team • Set up standardised policies, structured methodologies and best practice, ensuring adoption across all projects. Education and Qualifications

Helen has a degree in Fine Arts from Oxford University and a post graduate degree in Media Fine Art from University College, London.

She also holds a qualification from the Securities and Futures Authority (SFA) and has been a member of the board of trustees for a well-known London-based arts organisation.

Helen recently participated in the 8 European Leadership Forum in London.
