Online Advertising Executive at Together Online
20 October 2010 11:46am
Hi there,
Im looking for some information on an effective way to track online enquiries/sales generated from first click through to conversion.
We need to measure, organic, paid, direct conversion rates as well as call tracking in away that is effective enough for us to bill clients per enquiry, sale
I've looked into omniture but wondering if there are any cheaper alternatives, or solutions that can e built in house by our development team?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Kind regards,
Katie

Katie, I would highly recommend Google Analytics to start with because, Omniture is not only expensive but, would require incremental cost to operationalize and a decent % would go for staffing, Most of your questions can be easily answered using GA.
Thanks

Hi Kate,
I'd agree with Sushant - you can do a LOT with Google Analytics. It's pretty straightforward to set up, and it's free!
You can also set it to send out automatic reports - both in pretty PDF format, or raw data in excel for accounts etc.

Hi Katie
There's a great series of blog posts on this site by Nikki Rae, Fresh Egg, on how to do call tracking using Google Anaytics.
Here's the link to the third part (so you can then also click through to earlier posts): How to use Google Analytics to track telephone leads: Part three

Hey Guys,
I'm putting on a seminar for my client who specialises in Conversion Optimisation on Thursday 25th November, at the Soho Hotel, which addresses what has very much been the 'hot' marketing topic of the year, and which is certain to grow dramatically in importance in 2011: Advanced Online Conversion Optimisation for PPC, Email, Banner-ads and Website. I thought this might be something you might like to hear more about.
