We are looking at implementing a feedback tool on our site but are a bit lost as to where it would be best to place the button (if design allows, of course) and I was wondering what the best practice is for this. I could not find anything online about it, so not sure if it is an explored topic.

I personally really like the Kampyle tool:
And their approach to putting it constantly in view (on their site in the bottom right hand corner)

An interesting question and one that I'm not sure there's any fixed rule to, as various factors are likely to apply.
It might be worth seeing if any usabilty companies have looked further into this. I'm sure they will have - there's a comprehensive list of suppliers in our directory - a lot of whom are likely to have either faced this before with clients or have done some in-house testing/research.

I've also heard good things about Kampyle though there other tools out there for doing a similar thing.

Ashley - see E-Consultancy are running Kampyle on your site. Looks good and as a result am considering for use with my current client's website. However you mentioned other similar tools out there - what are these - and did you consider before choosing Kampyle? Interested in your experience.

@Tony Yes, we've started using Kampyle and so far it seems to be working well. We're only their Silver package (around £150 a month). It's got very good online reporting and analytics and also integrates with Google Analytics which we also have which is great for overlaying the site usage data (*what* is happening) with the qualitative feedback (*why* it is happening).
Also, although we've only been running it for a few days so far, we've already made site changes based on feedback.
