I've been faithful to e-Consultancy over the years, I think I've been a member for about 10 years now but recently I've noticed that I hardly come back here anymore. I sort of wonder if I really will have a £250 whole in my life if I don't renew so I took it upon myself to spend some time on the site and work out what value I get.
Nice emails, tick. Showing me recent news. Not *that* important and much of it is available elsewhere and, in fact, repeated elsewhere
Best Practice Guides, tick. I've pulled down a couple today to refresh (probably) the original reason I joined up. Pretty good actually but a little old fashioned, would be nice to have maybe slideshows or video or something that wasn't a 100 page report.
Forum, tick. Well, actually meh! Editors Choice stuff is 2 years old, very little is posted as new and very little contributed.
Supplier Directory, tick. Not used it
Training, tick. Used it a few years ago. Not been tempted recently.
So, as I don my fireproof suit I leave you with a question. What does e-Consultancy fill in your life?
Thanks for your comments. Obviously we wouldn't want to lose a long term subscriber like you ;) Did you fill our recent member survey? This was to help us further understand what people value etc.
One of the things coming soon, for example, is elearning (8hrs worth covering the core digital disciplines) which will be included free in all the paid memberships. This might be more 'dynamic' than the long reports although we have plenty of evidence that when people want/need the detail then they're happy to have the long form content.
I'd like to think that a lot of the research we produce is unique enough and valuable enough to be worth the membership cost - I still use our own research and advice to keep myself up to speed on new stuff (e.g. cookie law and connected TV recently).
Thanks for your response Ashley. I think I must have been having a grim day, a lot of the content is good and it does offer a simple (and single) place to go to get the info. Cheers again.
