We are in the exploratory stage of investigating full scale Enterprise level targetting email management solutions
We are insisting on keeping the system in house and managing the sending, operation of and datawarehousing ourselves. This is for several reasons including privacy and data symphony among others.
The best one on the market I have seen so far is Lyris. www.lyris.com
Important to us is
- Internal synchronisation of existing customer databases and the potential system - control of the data and safekeeping of customer details - segmentation based on purchase history, user preferences and site access history - managment of subscribes/unsubs to and from unlimited amounts of lists - opens tracking - purchase tracking and ROI - action triggers - reasonable pricing - first class support (from a UK vendor) - API programmability (preferably in perl, php or similar) - Non Microsoft compatability (Unix, Linux, mySQL, postGress etc) - scalability ( expect 200k unique emails a week and growing several points a week)
We are a UK provider that supplies this very type of solution. Our solution 'Maxemail' has been deployed in-house with a number of leading UK companies including Carnival (Who own P&O Cruises, Ocean Villages and many other cruise operators).
It is a Linux based solution with a PostGres database.
Scalability is not an issue as we have clients who have deployed Maxemail in-house and regulary send campaigns to 1M recipients.
If you would like to discuss our solution further feel free to call me on 01327 810080. Further information on Maxemail can be found at www.emailcenteruk.com
Best Wishes

Can I please have a copy of the User guide? Lyris has one and its about 8mb PDF. With repsect, I find reading the user guide far more useful, insightful and time efficient than speaking to the various reps from the vendors as I get the full picture and detail i need to know.
I need to be cheeky here as no less then 3 vendors have rung me so far about this posting
the full cost of Lyris Enterprise with full support package is less than 30,000 GBP a year. I have yet to see any other vendor come close to that in features/price.
I cant stress enough that we want a package with full built-in ROI and sales tracking. Most of the other mail packages are simply glorified list managers with no segementation and sales targetting built in out of the box.
We use it at a very small scale (they also host it for us) but have a feeling that it's a very powerful tool if you make the most of what it offers.

Hi Jon,
Sounds like you’re really looking for validation of your decision to go with Lyris. :)
So....Lyris has been around a long time & is one of the earliest email software providers, so if it has everything you want & £30K/year is within budget, go for it.
Having said that, there are other providers that are just as capable in the Enterprise market. You may also want to consider looking at some CRM & analytics providers too.
As specialists in this field and also not being tied to a system we are able to help you find a solution that would suit your needs. This all for this free, yes free advice. But, I would need to know a little more about your requirements.
E.g.
Do you need dynamic message creation?
Do you need copy/creative control on messages (e.g. some parts of the message can be edited whilst others can’t)?
I think we may have a solution that meets all of your stated requirements.
Would probably need about 10 mins of your time on the phone to confirm this.
Please call me on 01672 564453

I have only just joined the Forum so this note probably too late and you will have found a solution - but if you are interested, and if budget stretches to around £50k - and if as well as email with all the functionality you would expect you might also like print at some stage then do contact me.
We have over 200 customers and full functionality as you describe out of the box.
