could someone give me an indication of fair price for banner advertising cpm. this might be a "how long is a piece of string" question i realise! we are considering an ad serving company that specialises in lifestyle based sites, with geographical targeting. any help really appreciated.

Henrietta, as you know CPM rates fluctuate relative to several factors including 1) supply of inventory, 2) targetability of placement relative to content category, audience demographics, targeting filters 3) creative size 4) size of investment. The general rule is the broader the buy the cheaper the CPM. Below would be an indication of the different CPMs by broad category:
Blind Networks: £0.50 to £0.75 CPM
Declared Network with Targeting: £1.25 to £2.50
Vertical Content Site: £3.00 to £14.00
Niche Category Site £12.00 to £25.00

Many thanks, that's certainly a good guide . obviously the proof is in the pudding and low risk trial is always a good idea. Any suggestions on good control measures for trial such as daily caps?
