Usability Consulting at Usability
18 October 2000 17:16pm
Apologies to those of you that are not based in London but for those of you that are...
We're trying to set up a group for people working within the Usability field within London.
The aim of the group is for people to be able to meet other people working within the same field in an informal environment, to share ideas, contacts, information and of course, a drink or two. A virtual group has also been set up on the egroups site ( http://www.egroups.com/group/london_usability - from which this message has been generated), to manage messages and details of meetings.
We have set up an initial meeting for Wednesday 8th November - venue in central London, to be confirmed dependent upon the numbers of people that are likely to turn up.
However, we have set an initial outline for the evening:
6.30 - 7pm Flexible arrival time, drinks.
7 - 7.30pm Brief session on Usability and Interactive TV to be led by Ian Pardoe, Head of the HCI Group at ntl
7.30 - 8pm Brief session on whether or not there is a need for a 'London Usability Group' - and if so, what should it be like
8pm - onwards Networking, food, drinks...
For the first meeting, we thought it would be more interesting to include a brief presentation, rather than just have a meeting in which we all turn up and sit around. I have been to several other meetings where this format has been used very successfully to make the evening both informative and enjoyable.
If you are interested in coming along to the session on Nov 8th, please could you let me know by e-mail () so we can have an approximate idea of the number of people that are likely to turn up.
Even if you are unable to come along, please do join the london_usability egroup (either visit the egroups website at http://www.egroups.com/group/london_usability or send an e-mail to ) , and let us know what you think.
Finally, if you know anyone else who might be interested in this, please do forward this e-mail on to them.
Many thanks,
Hope to see some of you on November 8th.
Best wishes,
Sam
