I have been thrown a project into my lap and I need help.  I have decided to outsource our internet marketing and found this website to do it for us.   Being that I know nothing about internet marketing, I wonder what you'll thought I should do/shouldn't do.  Or if I shouldn't even use them.

    danielb,

Why would you not use them? They seem bonafide and true.  Everything I have heard about them is great.  Especially their link expander system.  Revolutionary is what they say.

I've never heard of them personally, but alarm bells always ring when I see pages like this:

Call me old-fashioned but that just smells fishy to me...

    hi, Mark,

I wouldn't use them for several reasons (including the one davidbancroft mentions). You mention that you're interested in their linkexpander program. Here's their intro to linkexpander:

Anyone who has been marketing on the internet knows that reciprocal links are simply a must have tool in your marketing arsenal.

    Unfortunately, that's just not true.

Large-scale reciprocal linking (link exchange) was popular up until around the beginning of 2006 (just search for 'link exchange' on google & you'll see thousands of sites offering a very similar service to linkexpander). It's always been considered a somewhat questionable tactic & has been frowned upon by Yahoo for years. Google's  BigDaddy update at the start of 2006 wiped out most of the benefits of (commercial) reciprocal linking in their engine (many sites were even delisted as part of the update for exactly that tactic) & it's more or less dropped off the map of legitimate search marketing since.

    Hi Mark

Stop getting bogged down in the technology, which company is best, which is worst, and all the other distractions and time wasting. You need to consult with someone or an organisation that looks at the business issues you are confronted with and who can then subsequently help you with the right strategy to achieve your aims. Don't worry that you know nothing about internet marketing. Internet Marketing can be one of the most confusing and frustrating areas of marketing and everyone has an opinion. Feel free to get in touch with me at

www.trueclarity.co.uk - I'm sure others who have posted messages can also help but check they first have an understanding of you business goals before devising a strategy. Good luck - one final thing - internet marketing takes time, it is not a speedy route to brand or product awarenes but should be intergated with other traditional forms of marketing.

    Mark,

I was with Web Marketing Concepts for about 6 weeks.  They have some special software called "The Affiliate Optimizer" that WMC runs your website through to set up a special "Exchange Links" directory.

Now granted, my first website was not the most awesome thing on earth.
BUT.....being told that my site would be ranked highly quickly by sumbitting to the Yahoo and MSN Search Engines, it never happened.  In fact, I never made it into the Top 100.

I assumed I had screwed up and took all the blame.  One of the owners pointed out some things I could change to increase the website's rankings and those changes were made.  Nothing changed.

Out of frustration, I asked this same owner to simply give me the URL to a few sites that have been successful using WMC.

I never received a response back.

It's interesting what I've learned in this forum about the importance of link exchanging and how WMC  uses  this as their big drawing  card.

What's funny is if they were being REALLY succesful don't you think they would get these $$ testimonials immediately posted on the first page of their site  along with the related URL for SALES  IMPACT?

    Check out their website:

    Hmmm......

One thing that did bother me was the advisement of "borrowing" copy from other websites and "re-writing it" to make it your own,  Ahem.

My gut feel was "cut my losses NOW".

    And I did.

And it appears that as of January 18, 2007, nothing much has changed with Web Marketing Concepts.

Trying to market an internet website promotion tool that leads you into a black hole.......how sad.

    Warm regards,

    An update.........

I have been using the services provided by Web Marketing Concepts for two months now.  I'm highly impressed with what I have found.

I was scared at first, being new to the SEO/webmaster scene.  Their tools, instructions, and resources are not exactly beginner friendly.  After talking to the owners and their support staff, they had redone their tools to work better for me.  My website skills are below par.  I couldn't hold my happyness when my website was picked up and ranked by Google within the first 3 weeks of its existence.  From then, I rose quickly in the search engines to the first page of search results on the major 3 search engines.   While I'm still nervous, they are proving themselves to be a decent marketing tool for my affiliate program.

While I can't speak for the problems you had with web marketing concepts, I can only say my experiences have been top notched.  They have gone over the top for me and will do whatever it takes to get the job done for me.  There was a time when I was being penalized, I believe that is what you call it, because I added pictures which didn't exist on my server.  They were nice enough to point that out and correct it for me.
