I currently work for an advertising company who run pages in the back of the Sunday Newspaper Magazines.
The company has decided to enrol me on a training course that will help me develop my skills in the areas of SEO, PPC advertising and Online Marketing. MY only trouble is, that I don't know what courses are out there for me at this moment in time.
If anybody is 'in the know' please could you share your knowledge and let me know too.
Hi Jonny, I have completed the IDM Certificate in Digital Marketing which was extremely useful (as well as a really enjoyable course!). I've taken all the learnings back to my workplace and we're starting to see positive results. It gives a great insight into the digital tools out there. I'm now nearly through the IDM Diploma in Digital Marketing which looks at a more strategic view of digitial marketing - again, it's full of valuable theory as well as practical hints and tips. Enjoy the course! Good luck : )

I did the intensive option which meant I was down in Teddington twice for 3 days last year. It is (as it says) "intensive" but you learn so much and can apply that knowledge when it comes to the assignments and exams.....

Would you have considered the online course? Do you have any of your material from the first module in the certificate, just so I could have a look and see what the teaching method is like.
How are currently applying your new knowledge? Thanks for sharing your experiences with me...

I did consider the online course as I did the CIM eMarketing Award online and it was fine but I felt that in a classroom environement, you get a proper insight into the practical examples that the speakers tell you about. Also when you're in the classroom, all the students have their different experiences which are shared during discussions and team exercises.
Since being on the course, I've written a business case for SEO, appointed an agency and have begun a search campaign. I wouldn't have known what to look out for during the pitch process if I hadn't done the course and learnt from the other students. I've also input into email marketing communications and made many web improvements for usability/accessibility etc.
The material you get are copies of the slides at the beginning of each lecture which you make your notes on. There is also an online study area where each lecture has a full set of notes which takes you deeper into the subject matter - you could probably get an example copy from the IDM. Hope that helps....

You have shared your experiences with me, which has helped me alot. Thanks...
I understand that assignments are set and wondering what your experience with them was. I am currently working for Web Windows, and aim to study the course alongside work ad implement everything I will learn. Thats why I think an online course could suit me personally. Did you go into the course with basic knowledge of digital marketing?

No worries.....the assignments were fine they let you use the theory you learn in a practical setting. I did have prior knowledge of digital marketing but the modules you study (as well as some further reading of the study notes and industry publications) will tell you everything you need for the assignments..

You get a book when you start the course called eMarketing eXcellence by Dave Chaffey which is really good. I recommend reading the magazines "new media age" and "revolution" which are full of case studies showing how organisations apply digital marketing.
Our second Digital Cream Dubai event on 21 February 2012 brought together 130 regional senior client-side marketers for an intense day of knowledge sharing on online marketing and e-commerce.
Econsultancy CEO Ashley Friedlein presented the findings from Econsultancy's State of Digital in MENA 2012 report, looking at current trends in the Middle East and North Africa.
The State of Digital in MENA report, published by Econsultancy (and supported by ArabianBusiness.com), looks in detail at use of different traditional and online marketing channels in the Middle East and North Africa. The report also looks at how companies are using social media for marketing, how businesses are measuring marketing effectiveness and examines the barriers to digital marketing and e-commerce in the region.
