Anyone had much experience of using online PR services? Any recommendations or advice as to their effectiveness?
The ones that I am aware of are:
PR Newswire:
http://www.prnewswire.com
Internetwire:
http://www1.internetwire.com/iwire/home
PRWeb:
http://www.prweb.com
Business Wire:
http://www.businesswire.com
Most of these are free (Business Wire charges) and some offer useful resources such as press kits and research services. However, I wonder a) do these services work that well unless they are part of a wider campaign managed by a professional and b) whether they are of any use for a UK company as all these services are US focused.
Are there any online PR services targeted at the UK? If not, why not?

None are that good - they work much better in the US.
European PR is ALL relationships. They can be used as ONE tool for PR - but aren't comprehensive on their own.
