Have you chosen a CMS? If not, I would go for one that offers the kind of functionality you want. Or can integrate a thrid party forum system seamlessly.

A couple of popular ones are...

    vBulletin
    http://www.vbulletin.com

    phpBB

We are building the CMS ourselves and would like to integrate a 3rd party forum into it. We need something with quite sophisticated functionality so i will have a look at your suggestion. Thanks.

What platform did you build your CMS on? If it is Microsoft or Open Source? I think the answer will determine your best choice.

I was at Intenet World a couple of weeks ago and spoke to the people on the vBulletin stand.  My concern has been to do with price, moderating, image sizes and support.

It was clear that with vBulletin all of these issues could be addressed very easily.

The price is only $160 (about £80), and you can do all the above easily.

Their website has a demo you can download.

    vBulletin gets my vote.

Of those three I'd go with vBulletin.

Much better moderation features than the others and until you get a decent community going you'll have to contend with a horrendous amount of spam.

I know a few forum managers with 10K+ members who can pass on their experience if you want to drop me a note with some contact details.
