One of my clients used the Yahoo Search Marketing online keyword assistant on http://inventory.uk.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/
and he has the following query.
Although the string would suggest that the data is taken from UK searches, the results seem to be in US English.
For example, if you put the term 'jewellery' in the suggestion box you get keyphrases with the term 'jewelry'.
Any comments or thoughts on this issue would be most appreciated.

They match-type many of the queries into a common one, either related or sometimes plural to singulars etc. So technically as far as Overture is concerned they are one and the same. Also they sort the words in a phrase into alphabetical order.
Additionally I wouldn't be surprised if your avergae teenager doesn't enter a rediculous amount of misspellings for 'jewlry' etc which might be what you are seeing.

Hi Pascal
I would check that your client is actually looking at the UK market. When you go to the homepage you will see 'select market' option in the right hand corner and you will be able to see which market you are in by the flag.

I should take the Yahoo/Overture results with more than a pinch of salt. There are several anomalies there. Sometimes it puts the words in results phrases into alphabetical order, and sometimes it does not. It also seems to make no distinction between singular and plural forms. Who knows what else it does wrong. You are better off using WordTracker or even investing in Keyword Country.
