The feature I am after is to give users the option to associate a thread they are starting to a couple of categories.
Back in the ol' days this was something users could do on this forum -- to classify a new thread with a topic such as SEO, Project Management, Online PR, etc... tipcs you see now under the 'How can we help you' tab.
Has anyone come across forum software that offers this out of the box? I would like users to my forum to associate each new thread to 2 categories: 'product' and 'type of use' (which is is also how I am categorising content).
Yes, we used to have this feature (all our website software is done in-house) but we removed it largely because it is very difficult to expect users to categorise stuff accurately (or to want to have to do it at all).

Hi Ashley,
Perhaps my audience (in this case PC users) would be more inclined to do so.
I've noticed that vBulletin allows users to tag their new threads. Perhaps I can hack this field to limit choices.
