You are: a great, smallish website design and build firm, based perhaps in the South East of the UK, who are looking for new business from small media companies.
We are: a small but growing niche market B2B networking events and media outlet looking for love (and a new website).
We need a a new 'news' website with a lot more functionality than we have now - we're growing our content scope by quite a bit in the very near future - and need some searchable web-facing databases alongside it to create 'directories', all to be accessed through the one 'place'. We're also wondering whether to roll in the jobs board we currently use to our own site.
I've made a brief, it's very detailed, and I've sent it out to a few firms.
However, the prices we've been getting back have been monstrous - really silly.
So I'm looking for web design/build firm (we have designer we use already, so we want to carry on working with him) that is a small but growing firm, like us, that we can build a long-term relationship with, that won't overcharge us (We Are Not Pepsico, ok?), that will actually read our brief and help us arrive at something we can afford. I'm willing to carve off things to achieve that result - I'm looking for a website firm that will help me, openly and collaboratively, do that.
By all means contact me at email@example.com if you don't want to post a reply here - and have a look at our site to see where we've come from: www.legalsupportnetwork.co.uk ... We also run a great and growing LinkedIn group, which is an area of good growth for our future, as it cleaves hard to our networking business model : search for Legal Support Network in LinkedIn Groups

Why not send me some details on the particulars of what exactly you are trying to do (include budget goal) and I'll be glad to help if I can.

Try Angus Phillipson at this company. They do the sort of sites that are similar to yours and have some budget offerings for smaller companies.
Otherwise - try finding e.g. a wordpress person from one of the developer freelance sites - they can be very cheap but you need to manage them well!

Thanks Denis and thanks Kate
D - I think Naxtech is too big a firm for us - global presence is something we're looking to kind of avoid because we want to form a close relationship with whoever's doing our work and for them to reachable; we also don't want to be the smallest fish in a big pond. No offence intended whatsoever.
K - I'll grab a look at wsb, cheers - fortunately I don't need to go quite as low as 'budget' but you are certainly speaking my MD's language ;-)

We are a small Internet Marketing agency that builds the systems that new websites sit on (content management systems) and include email broadcast. Our CMS has grown to include customer databases and event management tools ranging form small local systems (local chamber of commerce) through to BT.
We also offer services at the other end of the process - search and social media planning, execution and integration. 140 Digital is a slightly different face to the business
Being small we are keenly priced and driven by customer care. Would be very pleased to have a chance to respond to your brief.

Hiya, send me a full detail of your project. I am Drupal specialist which means there is no limit to new websites' functionality.

Many thanks for all your offers - we've basically got enough people to choose from now - doing more than 6-7 discussions pre-quote is just too much! - so I'm going to 'sign off' on this thread. But many, many thanks for the help and offers - this proves to me beyond doubt that searching for help on e-consultancy works, and works well.
