Twitter to highlight shopping deals with EarlyBird account

Twitter has launched an account, @EarlyBird, which will publish shopping deals, according to reports.

Although the account is yet to made public, reports are suggesting it will be used by Twitter as another route to make money through publishing deals.

Some brands have already had success using Twitter to promote offers. Earlier this year, Dell announced it had made over $6.5m in two years through its dedicated Twitter feed for offers on Dell computers (nma 25 March 2010).

Twitter announced its first paid-for service, Promoted Tweets, in April and followed it last month with the announcement of Disney Pixar as the first brand to use Promoted Trending Topics (nma.co.uk 17 June 2010).

According to Read Write Web, a spokeswoman at Twitter said, “There are interesting things in store for @EarlyBird. Keep waking up early and you might be the first to find out what they are.”
