SEO agency Bronco has tied-up with PR firm 10 Yetis to collaborate on all future clients’ digital strategies.
The companies will combine the SEO and digital PR skills from both companies to each client brief, to provide a wider digital service across design, web development, SEO, PR, video production, ad buying & creation, social media and affiliate solutions.
The move signals a wider industry trend, in which search campaigns are becoming increasingly reliant on effective PR campaigns (nma.co.uk 10 May 2012).
Google has rolled out multiple updates to its algorithm including Panda and Penguin, as well as penalising sites that are “over-SEO-ing”, which includes “unethical” link buying (nma.co.uk 28 March 2012).
10 Yetis head and co-founder Andy Barr said it is vital PR and SEO companies stop battling over who owns the space and begin collaborating. “Traditional PR is dead, online and digital PR should now be considered as traditional PR. PR Agencies that don’t get that are going to continue to be, quite rightly, ridiculed by the wider creative sectors such as social and search agencies,” he said.
Meanwhile Bronco MD David Naylor agreed there are often issues over either side “encroaching” on each other’s work, but this must be put aside. “The industry is changing, and people are starting to understand that more. Long gone are the days when you would yake a big budget, buy a load of links and hey presto your site ranks. That had to end. It’s all about ensuring the site is structured to perfection and then you need to gettiner natural links and coverage and SEOs are not the best companies to do that – no matter how we spin it,” he said.
