Skinkers, the online alert technology provider, has bagged $16m (£8m) in a second round of funding led by Acacia Capital Partners.

The company provides news alert services for the London Stock Exchange, CNN, the BBC and others, and recently announced the launch of LiveStation, a P2P live broadcast application.

LiveStation, which uses the Silverlight platform, is a P2P application like Joost or Babelgum, but differs from the two in that it can broadcast live TV.

It is currently at the demo stage, but will soon begin trialling the product with broadcasters.

As well as Acacia Capital, the funding has come from Spark Ventures, which invested $3.5m (£1.7m) in February 2006, and the company's management team. The funding will be used to further develop LiveStation.
