Sky Sports has announced its digital Champions League plans ahead of tonight’s group games, including live online coverage of matches for the first time.

The broadcasting giant will stream matches live through skysports.com for £3 a pop, as well as offering in-game goal clips and post-match highlights to mobile users.

It also has expanded its interactive options with goal alerts and multi-game viewing, as well as introducing high definition coverage of matches.

Mac users, however, will have to make do with plain old TV coverage as Sky uses Microsoft’s DRM system.

Hopefully that system will also prove up to the task, following the suspension of Sky’s broadband movie service last week after a DRM glitch.

ITV also plans to stream live matches from its website, accompanied by in-match statistics.
