Yesterday, we saw another example of this same trend as Tesco purchased UK-based music streaming service We7 for £10.8m.

Mobile represents one of Facebook's biggest challenges, but the company that just went public in what is sure to be remembered as one of the most infamous IPOs ever, that challenge is also a huge opportunity.
In an effort to exploit that opportunity, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg was willing to pay $1bn for a revenue-less startup (Instagram) and the company's own engineers have been working on their own mobile apps (Facebook Camera).

Google+ may or may not be a viable contender in the social networking space, but Google sure is committed to it.
How committed? According to venture capitalist Fred Wilson of Union Square Ventures, which owns a stake in Twitter, Google's passed up the opportunity to buy the popular microblogging social network several years ago.
