Yesterday afternoon, I had serious WTF moment as I read an article titled “Facebook has limited future in e-commerce”.
The basis of the piece was more of a news-feature than opinion, founded around a piece of research from Shoppercentric. I really feel that the conclusions that have been drawn seem to be fairly short-sighted.

Online retailers, including Overstock.com and Amazon place ads on their product pages, but can this be a good idea?
The argument for suggests that advertising can allow online retailers to monetise traffic and profit from those visitors who were not planning to buy anyway. Can it work, or is it an unwelcome distraction for shoppers?

The launch of Instant Previews has the potential to impact e-commerce site design, though much depends on how many people actually notice and click on the magnifying glass icon.
